New York City is pretty much what most people imagine - you see it all the time in the movies, people hustling and bustling everywhere (no wonder it’s been dubbed the city that never sleeps). The first time I went to New York was with my family as my post-graduation trip. We went in the dead of summer, which I didn’t love because it was very muggy and humid but we made the most of it.
Going in early/mid-September was definitely more comfortable when I went the second time. If you’re there during that time and you’re a tennis buff, I highly recommend buying tickets to the US Open! It is worth the experience! I bought tickets to see the Men’s Semifinals and got to see Rafael Nadal (my favorite player) beat Juan del Potro and Nadal ended up winning the whole tournament!
There are so many things to eat/see/do in NYC that it’s almost impossible to fit everything into one weekend (but it’s doable if you plan ahead). NYC is also a train ride away from Washington DC. The recommendations below are an accumulation of things I did over two trips:
